Members of Arietta Trio
Teresa Deckard (flute, whistles)
Besides serving as a chaplain with Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, Teresa Deckard is a 15-year veteran of wild bird rehabilitation. She is director of Bird Refuge of York County, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the care and release of injured and orphaned wild birds. With her lifelong passion for birds (she has pet birds as well), is it any wonder that she was drawn to the birdlike voicing of the flute family? As a freelance musician she has appeared in collaboration with ensembles and recording projects ranging from classical, sacred/contemporary gospel, Celtic/folk, jazz/pop and musical theater productions. Teresa enjoys her musical endeavors with Arietta and as a private flute instructor at Mockingbird Studio. She resides in York County with her family and the rest of the flock. Psalm 150
Martha Pineno-Hess (oboe, oboe d'amore, English horn, musette)
Martha earned a B.S. in Art Education from Millersville University, PA in 1981. As an oboist, Marti performed with the Pottstown Symphony for 12 years. Marti sang soprano for 4 years in the Meistersingers, a 16-voice ensemble. For her "Heritage Portrait Series" oil paintings, the Lancaster Sunday News named Marti 1997 Best Performing Artist. Her illustrated book "Talented Tabby" premiered in 2002. Arietta’s cd "Silver Swan" premiered in April 2003 and included five original compositions. "Leonardo’s Lesson" was published in October 2003. "Butterfly Blue" (10 originals), Arietta Trio’s "Amaryllis" cd (11 originals) and the picture book "A Hat for Hannah" were new for 2004. "Twilight" cd was released May 2005 (10 originals) and included Helen Anthony, piano. Marti performs for vocal ensembles, weddings, PA Renaissance Faire and freelances throughout South Central PA. Marti is employed as executive director of Cygnet Studios, a non-profit arts organization where she teaches art and oboe. Marti lives in Elizabethtown with her husband Todd and pet cat Leonardo.
