Fees for Outdoor Events

We want to provide the best possible performance for your event. Outdoor ceremonies create more challenges for musicians. They have to consider weather conditions (sun, temperature, wind), insects (bees, flies, worms, ants). Musicians can not move or swat at insects while they are performing.
Their instruments can be damaged by extreme temperatures. Musicians enjoy playing outside under many conditions, however what is acceptable for a guest for comfort is more difficult for a musician to deal with when trying to perform their best for your event.
Please be considerate of your chosen group and provide a safe/comfortable location for them to perform. A canopy tent would be a suitable outdoor covering for musicians/instruments.
Examples of Outdoor Performance Challenges
- High wind for a flute player -- the air they use to create the sound -- is blown out of the instrument instead of making a sound
- The lacquer on a stringed instrument can melt and the glue holding the sides together can loosen in temperatures over 90 degrees.
- The pads on wind instruments can either shrink (cold) and fall out or melt off/swell (heat).
Actual Situations
- Swarms of ants around the feet while playing in a wooded area
- Tent worms falling on musicians as they played prelude music
- Music stands falling over in high winds
- Hair blown into mouth of a wind player
- Stung by bees while playing next to the flower arrangements
- Instrument keys froze while trying to play in 50 degree temperature
